Reflection Journal #5

1) The idea for my animation was to advertise for my karate school, Shotojuku.

2) The tween option can add or change a series of keyframes in between two other keyframes.

3) The important thing to know about the first frame when editing an animation is making sure that there's a keyframe so that the animation can have a starting point.

4) Some limitations to making an animation in Photoshop is that you cant change the text from size to size. Another thing you can't do in the animations for Photoshop is that you can't change the text's color to another color. Another thing you can't do is you can't morph pictures like in After Effects. Another thing you can't do in Photoshop is making extremely complex 3-D animations like the movie "Transformers".

5)Steps I can use to make it look like an image is shrinking in Photoshop is by using the frame animation instead of the timeline animation. For each frame I make, frome left to right I decrease the image's size. Large to small. So when I play the animation the image will look like its shrinking. To make an image look like its growing I just do the oppostie. From left to right, I increase the image's size for each frame. So when I play it the image will look like its growing.

LB15 Lloyd Hembrador P1

For this project I learned how to use animations using Photoshop. I start off by going to Windows and click animation so I can start of the timeline. We also learnded about parts of the timeline like the frames and the layers. The thing we animated was text. I had to make initaials of my name which is L.K.H., and the first letter of the month I was born which is may. So there would be the letter "M." First I had to seperate them all at the beginning of the animation. Then by 3 seconds I had to make all of the letters come to together and to fade in at the same time. To do that I Had to use the opacity animation, which shows how visible something is, and the poition animation so I could change the positions of the text. After they all appeared I made them fade out slowly by changing their opacity to 0%. When they all dissapear I have to make them reappear and make them blink 3 times by the 5th second. I do this by changing their opacities anb putting the keyframes near each other. Keyframes are like indicators telling you where the animations start and end. After they blink I had to change their styles. I did that by changing the layer styles of the layers. I just added shadows and glows to the text so they look more attractive instead of looking boring and plain. For the last animation all I had to do was to distort the text by using the text warp by using the text tool. After that's done I made a descent animation, and it looks very nice.

I could use animations on photoshop for a lot of reasons. One of them is using them for advertisements. With the animations I can make an advertisment attractive so the viewers can be impressed by the animation. At the same time I also have to give importanat animation so the viewers can understand the advertisment. Fancy animations are useless if they advertisement is meaningless. Animations con also make the viewers convinced about the advertisement so they would believe the information about the advertisement.

ANIMATION!

Animation is a special way of showing the motion of pictures by showing constant frames of pictures. Some animation can fit in a different amount of frames of pictures per second like 15 or 30 frames per second. Animation is also very difficult because it can take for ever just to make 5 minutes of animation weather it's 2-D or 3-D. 3-D will take the longest becuase it had more detail and shape compared by 2-D. Another type of animation besides 2-D and 3-D is stop motions. I find stop motions very amusing. Stop motion animation are pictures you took in real life like a transformers toy , and start putting it on frames just like on 2-D or 3-D animations to make the toy look like it's alive. People can also add effects to stop motions like lazer affects or explosion affects wthout or with using a green screen. The type of animations I would like to learn is 2-D, 3-D, and stop motion animations. Why? It's becuase cartoons, 3-D movies, and stop motions really fascinate and entertain me. 2-D would be first, 3-D would be second, and stop motion animation would be last. Animation has been and still is a big part in our lives becuase we've seen many movies or with 2-d animation like pokemon, 3-D animations like Transformers, andstop motions like Coraline or The Night Before Christmas. Learning animation can also get you a lot of money becuase you could work for big companies like Pixar animations or any other famous companies that deal with animation.

Before
After: For this part of the lab I just used the masking tools. I took the Slipknot's main vocalist, Corey Taylor, from the picture and replaced it with pictures that represent him.

After: For this part of the lab I made a work path around Corey's body whichc means I made an outline. Then I replaced the background with blue. Then I just wrote some text that represents Corey Taylor along the workpath. 1) When I make the mask for this project it makes it easier to select what parts of the picture you want or what do not want. For example: you want to keep the background of the picture, but you want the body removed from the picture. Masking makes it easy to do. The same thing like when you want to keep the persons body, but you want the background removed. Masking makes the job easier. The thing is that you have to know how to use it.
2) Images I found to put in the cutout of the picture was the bands that this person was in like Slipknot and Stonesour. I also put in the bands or artists that this artist liked like Justin Timberlake or Steel Panthers. I also put who he was friends with like Shawn Crahan aka Clown from the band Slipknot. I also found pictures of what Corey Taylor ( Person in this picture. The guy with the mask.) likes to do like play the guitar, scream, and smoke a lot of cigarettes.
3) I was able to get the letters to trace around the cutout by making a selection around the person using the magnetic lasso tool. Then I made a work path so that the text could go around the cutout.
4) Yes, I am satisified with my picture, but I wish I was able to put more pictures so the project could look a bit more detailed. The letter tracings are the way I want them. Basically everything is good to me, and I am satisfied with my work.

For this project I just used The Gradient tool to make the backround. Then I used the text tool to type in my name ans used the warp text option to distort my name. Before

After: For this project i usedthe color replacement option to change the color blue to red. I used the blur tool to blur the window and the tiles on the bottom. Then I used the the dodge tool to lighten the left part of the window, and I used the burn tool to darken the right part of the window. I then sharpened the top part of the window by using the sharpen tool. Then I used the saturation tool to saturate the right part of the flowers and to desaturate the left part of the flowers.

After: I mainly used the patch tooland the healing brush tool to get rid of the wrinkles in this man's face.

Before

After: I used the spot healing brush tool to get rid of the spots on the walls including the DJ sign. Then I used the healing brush tool to get rid of the cracks on the right side so I could make it look smooth. Before

The shapes I used were diamnond like patterns, explosion patters, and a cross off sign.
I chose the colors red and blue becuase I think those colors are attractive.
I can make the project better by adding more detail and symbols.
My inspiration was basically my determination for getting good grades.
Shapes weren't difficult to use becuase you can just paste the chosen shapes.

Reflection Journal

In my multimedia class I learned a lot of things like how to make a melon head, how to change a picture's colors, and swapping faces. Another cool thing I learned in my multimedia class was masking pictures. Masking is just another way of making a selection. It's easier and quicker. The red part of the masks indicates the area that is selected. The red part will also tell you that you can change anything about that selected area or apply effects on the swelected area. The black colors in masks indicate the area of the picture will be erased. The white colors in the mask indicate that the selected are will be saved and will be visible unlike the black selection. The tools I used for the masking project are the masking tool, magnetic lasso tool, quick selection tool, the yin yang symbol, the add new layer symbol, shadow and glow effects, and the text tool to write "Dog From Hell". I wrote that quote in red to emphisize the word "HELL". The tools I used for this project basically helped me make the picture of the ugly dog better than before by adding effects. The tools also helped my get the job done faster unlike cheap programs like paint which take forever to do. The adjustment layers took some parts of the picture away while some parts of it were still visible. In the layers panel it s\howed black and white. Between the lasso tool and quick selection I found the lasso tool was easier to use because it was more conveinient than the quick selection tool. The bad thing about this project is that I wasn't there on the first day when my techer was teaching this topic because I was on a school trip. So it took me time to catch up with the others. The good thing is that I had fun doing this project.

Text modification

For the letter "A" it just looks like its has a shadow behind it as if the light was coming from the left side.

For the letter "B" it looks like there is some a white line surrounding the outlie of the letter "B".

For the letter "C" it looks like the letter is shinny. It looks like light is coming from the left, but there's no shadow.

Face Swapping Project

1) What was the objective of the task?
The objective of this task was to swap heads of two people in pictures using Photoshop CS3.

2)What picture did you decide to use and why?
The picture I decided to use was The bassist, Paul Grey, from the band Slipknot. I chose him basicly becuase he was the bassist of my favorite band.

3) How did it turn out compared to what you were planning or doing?

It didn't turn out the way I wanted to, but it still came out nice, and funny. I laughed when i looked at my project.

4)What was the most difficult aspect of this project?
Nothing was difficult in this project.

5) If you were to re-do this project, what would you do differently or add to it?

If I were to re-do this project the picture I would use is Manny Pacqauo because he's one of the best boxers and is a symbol of the Philippines.

My Melon Head

This is the melon head I made for my multimedia class with Mrs. Ramirez. What I did to make the melon head is use tools that would make copies of each fruit and change how they would look. I would use selection tools like the Marquee Tool, Lasso, Tool, Move Tool, and the Magic Wand tool. I learned how each tool works, and we also had to put layers for each fruit so work would be easier. Those tools helped me make the melon head faster and better rather than using microsoft paint. I also learned how to transform, a picture. The tool I found that was usefull was the Lasso Magnetic tool. I really enjoyed making this melon head and it was easy, for me.

Homework # 1

1) What does the Marquee tool do? What type of selections can you make with it?

The marquee makes selections. It can make 4 types of selections: Rectangular, Elliptical, Single Row, and Single Column selections.

2)What does the magic wand do?

The magic wan tool selects areas with similar or samw colors. Like if theres black, the magic wand tool will select that black area and other colors, that might be the same or similar, that connect with it.

3) What does the lasso tool do?

It allows me to make a selection of any shape I draw. It also has a polygonal and magnetic selection.

4) What do you notice about these selection tools? What o they all have in common? (What looks similar?)

All these selection tools allow me to make selections. They make selecting simliar too. After using
them they all have the thing that looks like moving white and black lines.

5) What does a selection look like?

A selection looks like moving lines or ants that are black and white.

Juxtaposoition

Two things, not related, are used to solve a problem.
